This exceptional 7,200 square foot European style home consists of three separate buildings creating a “Village” atmosphere.
Specialty stone surrounds for the front door and for over 45 openings were carved, hand chiseled, and sandblasted to insure the authentic old world look. Stone paving is utilized around the saltwater pool and also at the hearth room masonry porch.
Massive chimneys with four foot herringbone fireboxes balance out the many interesting rooflines. Two fireplaces have one piece natural stone hearths weighing in at over 3,500 pound each.
Cranes were used in order to set the heavy stone chimney caps, which were epoxied and have stainless steel rod anchors. Two hundred and ninety tons of EW Gold tumbled natural bed stone was used with medium sand and rough mortar joints.
The stone was quarried about 50 miles south of St. Louis.
