Loveland Police & Courts Building
Loveland, CO
The Loveland Police and Courts Building features a solid-colored concrete masonry base with multiple colors of brick on the exterior walls. The upper portions of the building are covered in stucco and the lobby is topped with a pyramid skylight. The extensive use of brick reflects the area’s masonry heritage and reinforces the civic nature of the facility. Variegated brick colors give the building an organic texture. The rounded entry rotunda is overlaid with a subtly contrasting diamond-grid pattern. The color combinations, textures and patterning illustrate the architect’s masterful use of brick. The subtle variations help to break up the mass, warm up the building and really hold this complex together.
