St. Sylvester Catholic Church

This project consists of two buildings; a new Sanctuary of 22,000 sq ft and an educational building of 14,000 sq ft. The church, which has a brick exterior and interior walls, seats 1200 people. The structure is poured in place concrete walls and a steel roof frame. The architectural character recalls familiar forms such as pointed arch windows, rose windows and gabled end walls, but is interpreted in a contemporary style to reflect the church’s goal to embrace the past as they look to the future. Support spaces include a cry-room, a priest’s dressing room and a large gathering space.
